Who Is This Programme For?

The programme is designed for recent engineering graduates who are passionate about building a career in the power sector.

Eligible Disciplines Include:
  • Mechanical Engineering

  • Electrical Engineering

  • Mechatronics Engineering

  • Chemical Engineering

  • Thermodynamics

  • Energy Engineering

  • Or related engineering fields.

Minimum requirement:

  • Bachelor’s degree (Second Class Lower or above)

  • HND (Lower Credit or above).

1. What is Transcorp IGNITE?


Transcorp IGNITE is a one-year development initiative designed to attract, develop, and retain young engineering talent for Nigeria’s power generation industry.

It is targeted at recent engineering graduates who are passionate about building a career in the power sector.

The programme equips participants with technical knowledge, hands-on experience, mentorship to prepare them for key operational and technical roles within the power sector.

The programme uses a blended learning approach combining classroom instruction, practical experience, and mentorship.

The learning approach combines classroom lectures by industry experts, hands-on on-the-job training, job shadowing, mentoring, real-world projects, and networking opportunities to provide holistic development experience.

It ensures participants gain both theoretical knowledge and practical skills, preparing them for technical and operational roles in the power sector.

The programme runs for 12 months, from January to December 2026, divided into two phases.

Graduate engineers in fields such as Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, Chemical, Process, Thermodynamics, Energy, or related disciplines.

  • Phase 1: 100 selected applicants for the initial training.
  • Phase 2: 20 trainees for the development and rotational programme.

Yes.

  • After Phase 1, trainees will receive a Certificate of Attendance.
  • After Phase 2, trainees will receive another Certificate of Completion and, upon successful assessment, may be offered permanent roles within Transcorp Power businesses.

Phase 1 is the Induction & Foundational Training stage of the programme. Phase 1 will run from January 12 to January 31, 2026.

The training will be conducted in a hybrid format, combining virtual sessions and in-person activities.

Phase 1 focuses on introducing participants to the power generation industry, Transcorp’s vision and values, health and safety standards, soft skills, financial discipline, and professional business communication. Participants will receive a Certificate of Attendance, provided they achieve at least 70% attendance during the training sessions.

Phase 2 is the Plant-Based Rotational Program, providing hands-on experience across different technical departments. Participants who complete Phase 1, pass an aptitude test, and submit an interest form will be selected for Phase 2. Phase 2 will run from March to December 2026.

Phase 2 offers a plant-based rotational program with four technical department rotations, a one-month capstone project to solve real operational challenges, and a one-week power plant exchange for cross-site exposure.

Participants will receive a Certificate of Completion and undergo a Performance Review for potential permanent employment within Transcorp Power businesses.

A First degree in relevant engineering disciplines such as Electrical, Mechanical, Mechatronics, Chemical, or related fields with a minimum of Second Class Lower (Bachelor’s) or Lower Credit (HND).

Candidates must demonstrate a genuine passion for engineering and innovation, with curiosity to learn and apply new technologies and methodologies.
