Transnational Corporation Plc (Transcorp Group), Nigeria’s leading listed conglomerate, announced the launch of Batch 2 of the Transcorp Intern X Program, aimed at promoting the next generation of leaders in the power sector. Building on the success of Batch 1, which saw the enrollment of 12 talented participants, the program has expanded its reach and continues to provide invaluable hands-on experience to young professionals.
Batch 1 of the Intern X Program, launched in August 2023, split the 12 participants evenly between the Transcorp Power Plant in Ughelli, Delta State, and the Transafam Power Plant in Afam, Rivers State. These participants received comprehensive training in energy production and plant management, alongside practical exposure to the workings of the power sector.
The second batch of the Intern X Program kicked off in August 2024, with an even broader scope, as Transcorp Group continues to support and equip Nigerian youth with the necessary skills to thrive in the ever-evolving energy industry. The program includes intensive on-the-job training, mentoring by industry experts, and real-world experience in power generation and distribution.
Speaking on the initiative, Dr. Owen Omogiafo, the President/Group CEO of Transcorp, said, “We believe in the power of human capital development and are committed to investing in the future of Nigeria’s energy industry. The Intern X Program was created to catch them when they are young and equip the next generation with the skills and knowledge, they need to drive innovation and sustainable development in the sector.”
The Intern X Program reflects Transcorp’s mission to positively impact society through education, empowerment, and skills development. The company remains dedicated to providing opportunities for young Nigerians to contribute meaningfully to the growth of critical sectors such as power and energy.
